Close Quarters 2009 Panel Suggestions
Old Dogs and New Tricks
Jul 4, 2009, 12:13pm EST
How has fan fiction in Pros changed? Or has it? Is it getting better? More realistic? Or is it deteriorating into Drabble of the Week?
Fan Fiction: Why Do We Write and Why Do We Read?
Jul 4, 2009, 9:54am EST
Pros has inspired a huge variety of stories and character interpretations. Some stories could easily have been episodes, others seem to be CI5-based in name only. What is the purpose of fannish writing? is it to recreate the show's universe "with benefits"? Or is it to transform that universe into something unique from each writer? Does a story ever cross the line from fan fiction to original fiction? If you are a writer, why do you write? If you are a reader, what do you like to read?
The Appeal of Pros: From Drawing Them In to One True Fandom
Jul 4, 2009, 9:44am EST
Is Pros one of many fandoms for you or the One? What brought you into Pros and what keeps you here? For many of us, Pros is the fandom that remains central to our fannish lives. Why?
Can Tough Men Be Tender Lovers?
Jun 29, 2009, 11:37am EST
Bodie and Doyle are the hard men of CI5, but... Can they be tender in the bedroom? Is it always rough and fast, or are there hearts and flowers behind closed doors?
Pros Fandom and AUs: I have this great story you should read....
Jun 25, 2009, 4:50pm EST
One of the things that kept me from the fandom for so long was "I have this great story you should read; it's an AU!" I couldn't understand the lure; if you wanted me to read about Bodie and Doyle from Pros, why not rec a more canon-compliant story? It wasn't until I started to read more that I got it -- there are a ton of AUs, from circus performers to elves to Bodie and Doyle in space! Why is it this fandom spawns so many AUs? Is it easier to write an AU, or is it something about the boys that makes us want to see them everywhere?
Themes and Tropes in Pros Fanfiction
Jun 25, 2009, 4:30pm EST
Slash is full of tropes, ways of getting the guys together, like undercover as gay, or near-death experience brings epiphany (to the nearly-dead partner or the other), or forced to share body heat, or amnesia, or sharing a girl. And there are larger themes, too, like "us against the world," "betrayal and redemption." What kind of themes are prevalent in Pros fic? What themes are overused, underused, or never used? Why?
Darkness and Desire
Jun 25, 2009, 4:29pm EST
How "dark" do you think Doyle and Bodie really are? How deep into violence and death has Bodie ventured? Does Doyle really have the sexually perverse streak so many writers imagine? Share your point of view, and discuss examples of how others see "Deviant" Doyle and "Brutal" Bodie.
The Sky's the Limit
Jun 23, 2009, 9:01pm EST
As partners or lovers, Bodie and Doyle are devoted to one another. But are there some things (sexually, morally, on duty) they would be unwilling to do for each other?
You're the director
Jun 23, 2009, 8:58pm EST
There's just enough budget to shoot a 58th episode, and you're the director. What plot or story type would you most like to see Bodie and Doyle in: undercover, retirement, revenge, separated, Cowley sidelined...?
Jun 23, 2009, 8:54pm EST
It's rare in fanfic, but infidelity is common in real life. So is boredom. Would the Lads stay together, faithfully, forever? If somebody strays, what happens next?
Que es mas macho? (or, my macho episode can kick your macho episode's scrawny ass)
Jun 23, 2009, 8:52pm EST
You might think "tough guy Bodie" is one tough Professional--but based on the episodes, who is the most macho? What's the most macho Bodie episode? The toughest Doyle episode?
Canon, Fanon, where do the Lads fit in?
Jun 22, 2009, 2:49pm EST
Is Doyle really tight with his money? Did Bodie really play The Game in his mercenary days in Africa? Is Bodie pathologically tidy? Did Doyle go to art college? Is Bodie Cowley's favorite? Is Doyle a snarky bastard? What's canon and what's fanon, and how clear is the line between the two? What are some of the more pervasive bits of (indisputable) fanon in this fandom, and where do you think they come from? Do you think Pros has more or less fanon than other fandoms?
Older Lads….do they run CI5, or have they run away?
Jun 21, 2009, 3:57pm EST
We all know about burn out. Would it happen to the Bisto Kids? Only one of them? Do they need to work together forever to have a happy relationship? If not at CI5, then where?

Jun 21, 2009, 3:53pm EST

Jun 21, 2009, 3:50pm EST
Assuming B&D get together, how much would they sacrifice for each other?
